Product Characteristics
The rug displayed in the photograph features a luxurious soft texture with a dense, plush pile that feels incredible underfoot. Its main field presents a soothing, cool grayish-blue tone, beautifully framed by a striking geometric checkerboard border in rich burgundy and deep red tones. Neatly knotted fringes adorn both ends, completing its balanced composition. This design pairs traditional Berber motifs with a clean, contemporary aesthetic, making it an ideal statement piece for modern living rooms, minimalist sitting areas, and sophisticated interior design projects.
100% Premium Natural Sheep Wool
Every single strand of this rug is meticulously created using 100% premium natural sheep wool. Sourced from local flocks, this pure natural fiber offers unmatched softness, warmth, and resilience. Natural wool provides a wonderful tactile feeling while offering heavy-duty durability designed to withstand daily life. The breathable, organic fibers naturally regulate comfort, ensuring your home feels cozy and inviting throughout every season.
Our Traditional Production Process
Premium Wool Selection: Every rug is handcrafted using carefully selected 100% natural sheep wool, chosen for its softness, durability, natural texture, and luxurious feel.
Hand Spinning & Dyeing: The wool is hand-spun and prepared using traditional techniques, honoring time-tested methods passed down through families in the region.
Hand Weaving: Experienced Berber women artisans weave the rug entirely by hand using traditional vertical looms, meticulously tying each knot to achieve its signature dense structure and intricate border pattern. Production time varies according to size, pattern complexity, density, and level of detail, often requiring several weeks or months of dedicated craftsmanship.
Hand Washing: After weaving is complete, the rug is carefully hand-washed using gentle methods to remove natural wool oils and enhance the softness, cleanliness, and radiant beauty of the fibers.
Natural Sun Drying: The rug is naturally dried outdoors under the warm Moroccan sun, allowing the open air to set the fibers and preserve the authentic character and texture of the wool without industrial machinery.
Final Finishing & Inspection: Every finished piece is meticulously hand-trimmed, brushed, inspected, and professionally packaged prior to international shipment.

Seasonal Production Notice
Because every rug is handcrafted, hand-washed, and naturally dried under the Moroccan sun, weather conditions can influence the production process. During December, January, and February, production may occasionally require additional time because of cooler temperatures, shorter daylight hours, and slower natural drying. We never use industrial drying equipment as a substitute for traditional sun drying, as allowing the wool to dry naturally ensures the preservation of its softness, strength, rich texture, and long-term quality.
Unboxing & Care Instructions
Unroll the rug within 48 hours of delivery so the natural wool fibers can breathe and settle.
Avoid keeping the rug sealed in the original shipping packaging for more than one week.
Trapped moisture can potentially cause temporary yellowing (cellulosic browning) or a musty odor.
Berber Luxe cannot be held responsible for discoloration, odors, or mildew caused by leaving the rug sealed in its original packaging for more than 14 days after delivery.
If the rug has been in transit for an extended period, place it in a well-ventilated room or gentle sunlight for approximately 4–6 hours to help restore the wool’s natural loft and freshness.
Important Product Notes
Every rug is individually handmade, making each piece unique.
Slight variations in pattern, texture, and color are natural characteristics of authentic handcrafted Moroccan rugs.
Due to the handmade weaving process, dimensions may vary approximately plus or minus 2 to 3 inches (5 to 8 cm).
Colors may appear slightly different depending on your monitor, mobile device settings, photography lighting, and home environment.
Handmade variations are never defects; they are the true hallmark of authenticity and traditional Moroccan craftsmanship.

The Craftsmanship Journey

Atlas Mountain Wool Selection
Our journey begins in the pristine High Atlas Mountains, where Berber shepherds have raised sheep for centuries. We select only the finest 100% organic wool, prized for its exceptional softness and natural luster.
- Sourced from free-grazing sheep in natural pastures
- Hand-sorted for consistent quality and texture
- Gently washed in mountain spring water
- Air-dried to preserve natural oils and softness

Natural Dyeing & Spinning
Using ancient Berber recipes, we create vibrant, lasting colors from nature's palette. Each dye bath is carefully prepared and monitored to achieve perfect hues.
- Plant-based dyes: indigo, saffron, madder root, walnut
- Traditional hand-spinning for perfect thread tension
- Colors that mature beautifully over time
- Chemical-free, eco-friendly process

Hand Weaving Mastery
Master artisans weave each rug on traditional wooden looms using the distinctive Beni Mrirt double-knot technique. This meticulous process creates exceptional density and durability.
- Double-knot technique for superior density
- 80,000+ knots per square meter
- Geometric patterns with cultural symbolism
- 3-8 weeks of dedicated craftsmanship per rug

Finishing & Quality Assurance
Each completed rug undergoes rigorous finishing processes to ensure perfection. The final steps enhance both beauty and longevity.
